DNS (Domain Name System) is a crucial component of the internet that maps domain names to IP addresses, making it possible for users to access websites using human-readable names instead of IP addresses.

In the website builder tool, DNS management refers to the process of configuring the mapping of your domain name to your website's IP address. In this article, you will find instructions for managing the DNS settings for two cases: one when you purchase the domain name from a third-party provider, and the second, in case you purchase the domain from Renderforest.

Adjusting domain settings purchased from a third-party provider:

This can typically be done via the control panel:

  1. Log in to your account on the domain provider's website.
  2. Go to the "DNS Management" or "Zone Editor" section.
  3. Select the domain name you want to manage.
  4. Find the option to "Add Record" or "Edit DNS Records."
  5. Add or edit the DNS records, as needed.

To add an A record:

  1. Select the type "A."
  2. In the "Host" field, enter "@."
  3. In the "Points to" or "Value" field, enter the IP address "35.161.126.63."
  4. Save your changes.

To add a CNAME record:

  1. Select the type "CNAME."
  2. In the "Host" field, enter "www."
  3. In the "Points to" or "Value" field, enter your website address in the format "example.renderforestsites.com" without adding the "HTTP" protocol.
  4. Save your changes.

It may take some time for the changes to take effect, usually up to 48 hours.

Please note that the exact steps may vary depending on the domain provider you are using. If you have any difficulties with the process, refer to the domain provider's support resources or contact their customer support for assistance.
